Madara asks Konan the reason for her betrayal. Is Naruto really worth it?Konan says Naruto is the light, the flower of hope for everyone.
Konan is hostile towards Madara.
Madara: Fighting with me wearing that cloak, does it mean you still can't let go.
Konan: Yahiko created the Akatsuki. The red clouds on this cloak are the symbol of war that caused rain of blood to pour down in Amegakure. Even if you had taken over the Akatsuki, this cloak still represents our justice. It's not yours. The Rinnegan was activated by Nagato in Amegakure, it's not yours either. His eyes are the precious asset of this country, of this village.
Konan's paper shurikens pass through Madara's body.
Madara: It's I who made Yahiko create the Akatsuki. It's I who gave Rinnegan to Nagato. It's only right that I take them back. All I have to do now is capture you.
The fight begins.
Konan attacks with a massive amount of papers so that she can seize on the moment when Madara materializes.
Even though Konan has the plan in mind, Madara realizes it and is looking for the opportunity to absorb her.
Konan attaches exploding tags to her papers, ready to sacrifice herself to kill Madara
Flashback begins.
It's not long after Akatsuki was founded. Konan is reporting to Yahiko about the members' defeat.
Both Yahiko and Nagato are injured and bandaged up.
There are Yahiko, Nagato, Konan and a few others present.
Nagato: I'll recon this afternoon.
Yahiko: Let me do it. You need some rest. Don't push yourself too hard.
Yahiko asks Konan who comes to send him off to take a good care of Nagato.
Yahiko: Konan, Nagato will be the man to change the world. You should put all your mind on him.
Konan: The same goes for you. Everyone follows you because we admire you. So does Nagato.
Yahiko: He will be the bridge to peace. I'm only a supporting pillar of the bridge. This country is always weeping, and I'm tired of it. Now I want to save it from weeping. I really do. I can't forsake a crybaby like myself.
Yahiko leaves.
After seeing Yahiko off, Konan returns to join Nagato and other members.
Nagato: The bridge to peace should be him. It's his intention that will form the bridge.
We will always believe in Yahiko. Nagato orders, "let's go, everyone". Then he follows after Yahiko.
"I want to become the supporting pillars for the two bridges which are Yahiko and Nagato," Konan decides.
Flashback ends.
Exploded papers and cloths are scattered about. Madara loses his right arm. His mask is broken, revealing a bit of his face.
Madara says to Konan in front of him, "I underestimated you. You're a former Akatsuki member after all. But you didn't escape unscathed either. Looks like you were ready to sacrifice yourself. Thanks to me absorbing some of the explosion, we were both saved."
Madara: Have you run out of tricks?
Konan: I've a question for you. Do you know why we betrayed you?
Madara: Who knows?
Konan yells, "You are darkness, flowers will only wither in a world without light!" as she uses a secret technique.
Lake and sea all turn into papers and split up like in the story of Moses' Ten Commandments. Madara falls into it.
